Services

Six core services for organisations using sport for change.

From concept and proposal through design, capacity building, implementation, monitoring and reporting — practical support at every stage.

What we offer

Service 01

Capacity-Development Workshops

Who it’s for
Sport organisations, NGOs, clubs, schools, universities and community programmes seeking to strengthen the capabilities of their staff, volunteers and youth leaders.
The problem it solves
Frontline personnel often lack access to structured, practical learning opportunities that build the governance, leadership, administration, management and programme-delivery skills needed to deliver quality sport and youth programmes.
What you receive
A tailored, context-responsive and participatory learning process, expertly facilitated by a SETA-certified facilitator, that builds on participants’ existing knowledge, experience and strengths and connects learning to their practical roles and organisational context. In-person and virtual formats cover governance, leadership, administration and management, life skills, environment and sustainability stewardship, inclusive practice and sport-for-development.
Expected outcome
A more capable and confident workforce equipped to deliver safer, more inclusive and higher-quality sport and youth programmes.

Service 02

Managing Safeguarding in Sport: Training & Systems Support

Who it’s for
Sport organisations, NGOs, clubs, schools, universities and community programmes that work with children and adults at risk.
The problem it solves
Many organisations lack the policies, systems, processes and trained personnel needed to prevent, identify and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns.
What you receive
Training and capacity development for safeguarding leads, officers, coaches, team officials and volunteers, along with support to develop or strengthen safeguarding policies, reporting and response pathways, safer recruitment practices and event risk assessments. We also offer safeguarding maturity assessments and phased implementation plans to help organisations strengthen their safeguarding systems over time. All work is informed by the International Safeguards for Children in Sport and relevant national safeguarding frameworks.
Expected outcome
Safer sporting environments, stronger organisational safeguarding capacity, and sustainable safeguarding systems embedded in organisational practice.

Service 03

Sport, Sport-for-Development & Youth-Engagement Programme Design

Who it’s for
NGOs, government departments, schools, sport organisations, universities and private-sector partners seeking to develop or strengthen sport-based programmes.
The problem it solves
Organisations often want to use sport to achieve social development outcomes but lack the in-house technical capacity to design programmes that are contextually relevant, participatory and evidence-informed.
What you receive
A programme framework, curriculum or implementation model developed using design thinking, play-based learning and participatory methods, tailored to the client’s context, target population and objectives.
Expected outcome
A practical, contextually relevant and ready-to-implement programme designed to achieve — and demonstrate — meaningful social development outcomes.

Service 04

Sport & Environmental Sustainability Learning

Who it’s for
Sport-for-development organisations, sport bodies, environmental organisations, schools and universities seeking to integrate environmental sustainability and stewardship into their programmes, curricula or organisational activities.
The problem it solves
Environmental and sustainability education programmes can struggle to engage young people in meaningful and practical ways. Sport and play provide accessible, participatory approaches that connect young people with sustainability issues and encourage learning through experience and action.
What you receive
Sport-integrated environmental and sustainability learning curricula, programme designs, learning activities, facilitator resources and implementation approaches.
Expected outcome
More engaging and participatory sustainability learning, with stronger environmental knowledge, awareness and capacity for action among learners and participants.

Service 05

Strategic & Programme-Management Advisory

Who it’s for
NGOs, government departments and sport organisations seeking to develop, strengthen or scale sport, sport-for-development and youth development programmes.
The problem it solves
Many organisations struggle to generate and use evidence to inform their programmes, develop fundable proposals, articulate a clear theory of change, translate strategy into effective programmes, or maintain the M&E and reporting systems funders and partners require.
What you receive
Research and evidence products, strategic plans, theories of change, results frameworks, logic models, funding proposals, M&E frameworks and donor reports, together with practical implementation support.
Expected outcome
Evidence-informed, better-designed and better-managed programmes, with stronger accountability and positioning for funding and partnership opportunities.

Service 06

Stakeholder Engagement, Partnership Brokering & Resource Mobilisation

Who it’s for
Organisations seeking to mobilise new resources and build multi-sector partnerships to strengthen sport, sport-for-development and youth development initiatives.
The problem it solves
Organisations and initiatives can struggle to identify the right stakeholders, build strategic relationships and access the funding and partnerships needed to grow and sustain their work.
What you receive
A stakeholder map, partnership strategy and tailored resource-mobilisation materials — funding proposals, concept notes, sponsorship packages and partnership proposals — together with strategic support to engage potential donors, funders and partners.
Expected outcome
Stronger, better-connected and better-resourced multi-sector partnerships that support sustainable programme delivery and growth.

Environmental Education · Sport-for-Development · Sustainability Learning

Sport-Based Environmental Education Initiative

Client: Wildlife and Environmental Society of Southern Africa (WESSA)

The challenge

WESSA, one of South Africa’s longest-standing environmental education organisations, needed to move its programming beyond one-off, event-level activities (tree-planting days, litter clean-ups) toward deeper, sustained environmental stewardship among young people aged 14–25. With South African youth ranked among the most climate-vulnerable globally (UNICEF, 2021) and national data showing significant gaps in climate education, WESSA sought a way to extend its flagship Eco-Schools and Green Youth Hub models beyond the classroom, reach vulnerable youth who don’t consistently access formal environmental education, and do so through a vehicle young people already engage with: sport.

Our solution

Conceptualised, designed and wrote WESSA’s “Playing for the Environment” Programme — a sport-and-play-based environmental education intervention grounded in Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) principles, including the full programme logic, Theory of Change, CAPS-aligned curriculum framework, and a phased implementation and scale-up strategy across numerous platforms. Also supported WESSA in developing a funding proposal to share with potential donors.

Services delivered

  • Programme conceptualisation, design and Theory of Change development
  • SfD curriculum design (CAPS-aligned; mapped to Eco-Schools themes — climate, water, waste, biodiversity, health)
  • Multi-partner implementation strategy
  • Train-the-Trainer model design for educators, coaches and youth facilitators
  • Funder-facing proposal writing and strategic positioning
  • M&E framework input (outcome/output indicators, evidence and case-study generation strategy)

University Sport · Leadership Development

Practical Leadership Approaches Training

Client: Mangosuthu University of Technology (MUT) — Sport and Recreation Unit

The challenge

MUT’s coaches and sport managers operate in a high-pressure environment, supporting student-athletes juggling academic workload, financial and family strain, social pressures and performance expectations, often without a shared, practical leadership framework to guide how they lead their programmes. MUT needed its sport leaders to move from ad hoc, results-only management toward student-centred, ethical and collaborative leadership practice that builds trust, protects student wellbeing and strengthens the sport programme’s standing within the institution.

Our solution

Designed and facilitated a practical, workshop-based leadership training (“Leading with Purpose”) for MUT Sport coaches and managers, translating leadership theory into an applied framework built around three connected pillars: understanding the student-athlete’s lived reality, building well-organised and clearly communicated programmes, and keeping the student at the centre of every decision. The training closed with safeguarding as a core, non-negotiable leadership responsibility.

Services delivered

  • Training needs framing and content design, grounded in the specific pressures facing MUT student-athletes
  • Interactive workshop facilitation for coaches and sport managers
  • Practical leadership framework and takeaway tools
  • Safeguarding and ethical leadership capacity-building
  • Leadership capacity-building aligned to institutional reputation and programme sustainability

Results & impact

Strengthened student-centred, ethical and collaborative leadership practice among MUT Sport coaches and managers, equipping them with a shared, practical framework for building well-organised programmes, communicating direction clearly and safeguarding student-athletes.

University Sport · Programme Design & Development

University Sport Programme Design Training

Client: Mangosuthu University of Technology (MUT) — Sport and Recreation Unit

The challenge

MUT’s coaches and sport managers needed to move beyond ad hoc, win-focused programming and design sport offerings that work across the whole student body — from students seeking connection, belonging and wellbeing through recreational and social sport, to those on competitive and high-performance pathways. Without a shared design framework, the risk was a programme that either under-serves the participation base or lacks the scientific rigour needed to safely develop competitive athletes.

Our solution

Designed and facilitated a “Designing a University Sport & Recreation Programme” training built around a Participation → Progression → Excellence framework. The training equipped coaches, managers and administrators to design across two connected tracks — participation and belonging, and performance and excellence — grounded in sport-science principles and a four-stage sport development continuum. As a practical output, developed and introduced a Sport Club Logic Model tool that helps coaches translate activities and outputs into measurable outcomes and long-term impact.

Services delivered

  • Training design and facilitation
  • Sport-programme design capacity building
  • Sport Club Logic Model tool

Results & impact

Coaches and sport managers equipped with a practical, repeatable framework and tool to design inclusive, sustainable sport programmes across the full participation-to-high-performance pathway, and to articulate, in measurable terms, how their programme’s activities lead to student outcomes and broader institutional impact.
